FIGURES from the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board showed the port handled 1.64 million TEU in July, representing a year-on-year decrease of 11 per cent from 1.84 million TEU in July last year. 

Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority reported a 0.8pc slight increase in container movement in July, having handled 2.57 million TEU. 

Meanwhile Shanghai, the world's biggest container port, increased throughput 5.1 per cent to 3.27 million TEU in July year on year, according to the Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG)
